The PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) is an internationally accepted data security standard for securing customer data in online credit card payments. The standard is a result of the Visa AIS Program and and Mastercard SDP Program, which led to the formation of the worldwide PCI standard for securing customer data. The goal of the PCI-standard is to ensure that card information cannot be stolen or misused in any circumstances in online payments, as this causes significant costs to all parties involved. By following the standard, we can ensure that secure credit card payments can be made all over the world now and in the future.

 

Visa and Mastercard define which organizaitions need to follow the PCI-standard. You can check if your organisation need to do it by filling in this self assesment questionnary or by contacting you Mastercard/Visa dealer.
